Our Approach to ESG

We are proud to share our annual Environmental and Social Impact Report, approved by REDs Executive Committee and Directors. This report shows how we follow ESG principles and highlights our achievements and performance in 2024.

‘RED’ in this report refers to RED Engineering Design Ltd and associated group companies. Our commitment to accuracy and reliability is underscored by using comparative data over time to illustrate our performance trends.

At RED, we are committed to driving positive change, fostering responsible practices that we know go beyond our services, and enhancing our performance through consistency and accountability.

Highlights of 2024

2024 was a year of growth and innovation at RED, with an expanded headcount and increased service offerings, RED have grown to meet the evolving demands of our clients and the data centre sector and construction industry.

RED has made meaningful progress in its environmental, social and governance practices.

We successfully reduced carbon footprints, enhanced travel policy requirements, and improved waste and water management in our offices.

Social value initiatives included strengthening recruitment policies, growing our DEI and STEM employee resource groups, upholding wellbeing commitments, introducing and conducting managerial safety visits, alongside crisis management improvements and training on all ESG topics.

Governance efforts focused on developing fair operating and supply chain policies, enhancing ethical standards, and promoting Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) across the value chain.

These achievements reflect RED's dedication to sustainability, social responsibility, and ethical governance throughout the year. Despite our progress, we acknowledge the challenges in reducing our overall (gross) environmental impact. Factors such as increased business travel, commuting, and changes in carbon grid factors have significantly influenced our environmental footprint in 2024.

RED firmly believes that sustainability is a collective responsibility. We are committed to engaging our employees, clients, and suppliers in our sustainability journey. To drive further progress, our targets are thoroughly discussed in our Management reviews, with opportunities for improvement and corrective actions tracked and managed transparently.

New Initiatives for 2025

In 2025 we are introducing a more accurate commuting survey, project carbon and biodiversity screening, among other initiatives. These will enable RED and Tractebel to identify specific areas for reducing environmental impact.

Our Key Goals

Training

Our ongoing mandatory employee training and inductions aim to educate, advocate, and inspire innovative approaches to enhance our environmental performance. These efforts have already led to new methods in data collection, carbon calculation, and increased staff engagement and understanding.

Recruitment

In terms of social impact, we are committed to implementing our inclusive recruitment strategy, further developing our global wellness and accessibility strategy. These initiatives are designed to foster a more inclusive and supportive work environment for all employees.

Governance

Governance-wise, we are focusing on certification of our internal management of ethics and further ESG roadmap actions to ensure that RED's initiatives are transparent and aligned with governance requirements.
